Gift from my daughter

Krisha has such a creative brain. While I was in Ohio she made me this rose, completely made of fabric. She thought it all up in her head, she had no pattern or directions!

She was smart enough to make templates for her rose petals so that she can make more without having to figure it all out again!

She even put a little Ladybug on the leaf and added rose oil to make it smell real. I love it!

I WIN!

Candi and I started working on new purses while I was staying with her last week. By the end of the week we kinda ran outta steam (after we made Valentines gifts for our handsome grooms) So we challenged each other to finish our purses when I left. I finished mine today.

I made a couple of improvements/alterations to the original pattern, I added a magnetic snap to the top of the handle and I put one of the pockets on the inside.

I thought this was going to be an easy quick thing to do and ended up being a little more involved than I expected. It is far from perfect, but I love it!

Candi hurry up and finish yours!

Joann's Table Topper

Joann called me one day and asked me if I would make a table runner for her if she sends me the pattern and fabric. Of course, I said, sure! And it arrived in the mail in plenty of time for it to be one of my snowed-in projects.

When I got it in the mail, I thought: "Oh, My Feathers, what have I gotten myself into!" The picture looked like it would be hard! All those curves, and the odd shape!

Well, it wasn't all that hard. As a matter of fact it was kind of fun, and a very satisfying pattern to do. The hard part was putting the binding on. Even though I made bias binding which easily went around those curves, the inner corners were very difficult, and I will admit I didn't do that great of a job on them....

Joann is going to have to wait till I have time to "show and tell" at a few of my favorite quilt shops.

Kim and Candi's Valentines Projects

Kim and I have been having sew much fun sewing and creating together this week! She made this remote control organizer (in patriotic fabrics to match their decor) for Pete for Valentines Day. She made a coordinating one for her crocheting/knitting stuff and knick knacks. I loved them sew much that I made one for Randy. I added a little bag to the end (inspired by a thread catcher that I also copied from Kim) and found a really nice lion embroidery pattern to add to the top. They look almost as good as store bought!

Desert Sky Quilt

So I got motivated to work on my Desert Sky quilt last week. I completed all the blocks. When I got to the center block I just didn't like the applique work on it, I wanted more of a south west flair. So I decided instead of thier appplique I would embroider Kokopellis. I am sorry the Kokopelli picture is sideways, I can't get it to turn. I hate Blogger.

Giant Diaper Bag

Be sure to click on and enlargen these pictures. I just finished this "Modern Diaper Bag" from a book by Amy Butler entitled "Little Stitches for Little Ones". I saw the book at Sharon's and asked for it for Christmas.

My chiropractor, who has become a good friend, recently found out she is pregnant with twins after lengthy fertility treatments were feared unsuccessful. She is 30 years old...and happy as a lark about being pregnant. I took Maggie to visit her a few months ago so she could get Dr. Katie's "mommy hormones" to release...a few weeks later she was pregnant!
Anyways, I will probably not repeat this bag. It was alot of work. I embroidered on the front "Like Two Birds of a Feather We Flock Together" I thought it was appropriate. It is huge, so I think it will be a nice hospital bag for her to take when she has the babies....

I got the CHEEP TALK fabric from a magazine I got in the mail from Connecting Threads...I got a free yeard of fabric, and bought some pretty nice thread in bulk.

Railroad Quilt

This pattern is called the Ozark Star. I made this for a great friend of ours who recently retired from Wheeling Lake Erie Railroad...and also LOVES trains! Sharon did some awesome custom quilting techniques...so be sure to zoom in and look at the stitching. I purchased the train fabric on ebay, and found the stripes, that I thought coordinated perfectly, at Jo-Ann Fabric. We had such a nice time at Sharons when Trish and I spend the weekend and sewed and quilted...it was just like a slumber party.
