My Christmas Gift from Krisha

Krisha made me this quilt wallhanging for Christmas. Her first attempt with little or no instruction on quilting! I love it and wanted to share it with you all. Notice the ladybug on the top left corner and the back is fabric with music notes. I can't wait to put it up on my wall.

I love this quilt

Some of you already saw this at Candi's because I put it in the White Moose exchange. Leslie was the one who finally ended up with it, but I just love it. I can't wait to see it hanging in her house at Christmastime.

Here is my latest project

Paul loves this shirt I made him for Christmas, sew he was nice enough to let me take pictures front and back. The only thing I wish I would have done - one of the pockets matches the background so perfectly, you can hardly see it, but the pocket on the left was a little off. Now that I look at it, I wish I would have cut out a new one and done it right. Paul said he doesn't care about that, he loves the shirt. He says it looks "store bought". I'm not sure if that is a compliment or not!
The fabric is a really nice heavy flannel, like no other flannel I have seen in a shirt. I bought a bolt of it when I found it at Zinc's really cheap. We need to all go there together sometime.

Its time for a new project to be posted on here

I am making hats and matching totes for my mother in law for our trip to Florida.....this was my first time completing a hat...I started one for Maggie a couple months ago, but never finished. I didn't like the way it was turning out.
I learned a valuable lesson when making tow of something at once...for the first time you try the pattern. Don't attempt to sew them at the same time, because then when you make a mistake, you end up reverse stitching both of them.
I am making another in black white and beige. I think I am making some changes to the bag...I am not entirely happy with the magnetic snap closure.

Scrappy Sewing Tote

I made this sewing tote and stuffed it with quilting notions that were 50% off last week (PLUS there was an additional 20% off total purchase coupon!!!!) and 99 cent Butterick patterns for Trisha for Christmas...she already saw the gift bag, I am not wrapping it...this was actually pretty simple to make, the strip pieced pockets took more time than anything else. It is made with scraps from previous projects...I LOVE it! I am skimping for Christmas...making all my gifts...I still have not recieved any compensation for my most recent injury, I finally hired an attorney...wish me luck.

Tis the season...

So I made stockings yesterday. Mikey wanted a new one and he picked out the fabrics for his. I didn't like the one I had so I made one for myself. Jesse said he liked his the way it was. Maggie didn't have one yet. And Jesse's partner is staying with us for a while so I made one for him and one for his son (the one with the flames). It was a small but fun project. =)

Here's something you can do with your Honey Bun

Do you know what a fabric Honey Bun is? It's a moda product, it's a roll of one and a half inch strips of a line of fabric. Here is something you can do with one. I bought one of Christmas fabrics, and I;m making these stockings! They are smaller than they look in this picture, though.

Anybody want to have a craft day?

I was wondering if any of you want to have a craft day to do our Christmas ornaments together like we did last year. I was thinking maybe December 5 (Saturday) or December 18 (Friday). Any volunteers to host or requests for a different day?

Sharon

One more Christmas project done

I did this for Tiff and James. The red fabric is the same fabric I used to make the cross stitch for their wedding. I still have some things to learn and this is far from perfect, but it comes from the heart. The embroidered words say "Always remember the significance of this simple gesture" "Holding each other's hands" (from the piece Eric did at the wedding)

Quilt for baby Chase

Here is a quilt I made for Dylan and Amanda's baby. Earlier, I posted a baby animal quilt I made for them. Well, I'm probably going to sell the baby animal quilt, because I heard that their theme is airplanes, and I found this cool airport fabric. These pictures were taken at show and tell during our latest Buckeye Machine Quilters club meeting.

The front is a pattern called "disappearing nine patch" which is the same pattern I used for Krisha's unicorn quilt. It is a very easy to do pattern that looks great when finished. The back is a panel of a play airport, and I added borders to make it bigger.

My fav of gifts for Roxanna

SO Mom and Sharon saw this one in the making... but I loved it so much I wanted to post it anyway.

WHERE IS EVERYBODY?

It seems like interest in this blog is declining...I can't believe Kim didn't check out my Harley snugglie...its been 12 freaking hours. It is AWESOME. There, I said it for you. LOL....I am anxious to hear comments.....I must be the only one with nothing to do but look at the blog and craft. HAHAHA. I love you all.

Do you know what a PITA quilt is

This was the biggest PITA project I have ever completed. Do you know what PITA stands for? "Pain In The @$$" It looks pretty good, finally, but please don't look very close!

I bought the pattern for this at a quilt shop in Glenwood Springs when I took the train to Kim's earlier this year - I'm finally getting to the projects I bought on that trip!

Kim, I will always remember my trips to SLC to visit. But I can't wait till you live close enough that we can visit a lot more often! I haven't heard from you for a while. I hope it's just because you're busy.

Harley Snuggley

Candi spent the day here with me, and we went to a craft show. The weather was too nice, and there wasn't a very good turn out at the craft show. Candi got a lot of compliments on her snugglies, though. We went down to my shop after the craft show and did some sewing. Here is the snuggley she made today.

BLOG HOG SNUGGLIE MARATHON

I reached my goal....I finished a dozen...saw a sign for Ellet High School Craft Show this Saturday and called...no booths available...drats...they were only $40 for a 12X12 space, table and two chairs provided. DOUBLE DRATS.

How to use the "SNUGGLE SACK"

Per Sharons advisement, I am showing different views, so you can see how it works...and I used a "newborn" teddy bear, and one approximately 8 months old...obese, and with a gigantrous head, to show you there is room to grow. (if the baby has a head this big, I may have to make a custom size hood) Step one...completely open the outer flaps, and pouch to put baby in. Step two, fold flaps over baby. Step three, pull pouch over entire thing...easy. Maggie kicks out of it when she is awake, but sleeps well in it. It is pretty big for her yet, but functional. It does not fit as tight as it apears on the big teddy, but he is way fat.

For Dylan and Amanda's Baby Boy

I hear the baby's "theme" is going to be airplanes...His name is going to be Chase. I am using up some fabric stash. I am broke because workers comp is fighting me about my most recent reinjury. Recycled blue jean pocket, old shirt, and a set of sheets, and vetoed fabric I bought for the back of David's quilt and changed my mind....don't tell.

Trish and Candi's evening project

This evening while Randy was watching the OSU game, Trish and I decided since it has been so long since we did anything crafty together, we would make the baby girls some snugglies. The dark bright colored one is for Roxanna...we are going to give it to her when she is born. The other one is Maggie's...here she is modeling her's. It has little lady bugs, caterpillers, and bees on it. I absolutely love putting this pattern together....it is alot of fun, and SEW cute!

OSU on the jacket

I finally got the nerve to stitch this on the jackets that I bought for James and Tiff for Christmas. They aren't perfect, but I am still learning.

Projects for Roxanna

Jessica's baby shower is coming up... I made a diaper bag (I am going to fix the stitching around the heart), a Christmas dress and a holiday/winter dress for her with a matching beret. I modeled the dresses on Maggie. =)

Tooting Sharon's horn for her

Sharon made this quilt for Maggie and gave it to me at the baby shower (with a really cute tote bag for it). She used the Little Mermaid fabric I was sew greedily eye-balling when I visited her house (hehe). I think the bubble looking quiting pattern looks sew cewl on it. Maggie goes on this quilt for tummy-time. She hates tummy time... but she loves her tummy time quilt (I know she does even though she can't tell me sew yet). Thank you, Sharon!

Okay, Candi, I made something too

I had made some extra Mariner's Compass blocks when I taught a class. I was making them to use as a demonstration. Trouble is, I already made a Mariner's Compass quilt, and I didn't want another one. Sew, I made this jacket out of the blocks and a five dollar Walmart sweatshirt.

I Cannot Contain Myself

I am a blog hog...I know. I started this quilt for Jessica and David's baby a few days ago...I have four squares left to make. This is my adaption to Evelyn Sloppy's "HONEYBERRIES" quilt from the book "40 Fabulous Quick-Cut Quilts" . As you can see, I added a small personal touch in the center, I embroidered a floral/dragonfly design. I also chose to get away from traditional baby quilt motifs for this one, and use up some scraps of batik from a jelly roll I have had for a long time. I purchase NO NEW fabrics for this quilt. The cool thing about this book, it uses all 2 1/2 inch strips...Sew it works well to use up scraps. I just couldn't wait for it to be finished to post it....I find that happens alot lately...all of my recent posts are of unfinished projects...like my whole life. EVERYTHING is unfinished...dishes, laundy, the last dozen movies I watched...LOL

The project I am finishing today

This week I am purging my infinished projects from my life. I started this quilt months ago for a friend of ours who had their first grandchild. Blankets are forever though...so better late than never. It is big enough to last till he is two or so...so I actually had a long time left before I HAD to finish it. I just stitched in the ditch to quilt it...the high pile batting gave it a really cushy look.
I did rest yesterday, Kim, but my brain didn't, so first thing this morning I put this together. I had most of the pieces cut and planned....

My first 4D digitizing

I am making jackets for James and Tiff for Christmas using this digitized OSU logo. Not bad for a first attempt eh? I have some tweaking to do, but this is the first stitch out.

Now all I have to do is reassemble the shirt

Here is an updated photo of my pumpkin sweatshirt

Thread Velvet

I was shown this technique at my sewing machine class last week. I loved it sew much I had to try it out. It is called Thread velvet. You actually stitch it all out and then cut between the heavy satin sittches to make it look like velevet.

Now that I have done this simple one, I plan on doing a Santa Claus that I snagged (pirated) from my instructor.

Another work in progress

I am working an a million dollar sweatshirt here. It cost me $1000 for the embroidery machine, $80 for private lessons, about 15 hours of time so far, one ruined shirt, and tons of thread....but I wanted a hirt with all my grandkids names on it....i learned the mega hoop, and did the lettering with it, but decided due to the complexity of the pumpkin kids, I would do them on denim, and sew the patches on, sew I don't ruin another sweatshirt...while I am learning. I will have it done today, but I got impatient and wanted to see how the patch would look sewes on with an autumn varigated thread in a leave stitch pattern. Like it? I am embroidering Roxanna now.

I bought this pattern three years ago during a shop hop Sharon,

Trish, Mikey and myself went on around this time of year. It's not finished yet, but it was about time someone posted something...I am getting bored.

Apple Pie Filling

I began the day cleaning house and doing laundry...I didn't know what to do with the huge bag of ginger gold apples Randy bought at Sunny Slope this week...I know this isn't really a sew or craft thing to do, but I just got sew involved with putting apples in the crock pot, I never started sewing like I had originally planned. Sew...I had to put SOMETHING on the blog, since Sharon is the only one who ever posts anything. Her projects are beautiful...mine today is YUMMY. I also put a bunch of peaches in the freezer. This was the product of half of the twenty pound bag he bought...minus what I snacked on while cooking. WELL...you have to taste stuff! Enjoy apples and squash this fall....its my favorite season for eating!

Mariner's Compass

Here is a picture of the Mariner's Compass quilt that everybody has been hearing me moan and groan about. I finally finished it - except the binding. I'll do that tomorrow, because I want to put it in a show next week.

Baby Quilt for Amanda's little boy

I made this quilt about a month ago, for Dylan and Amanda's baby. It's appropriate because Amanda's family is into wildlife stuff. When I bought the kit, I thought it would be good whether it was a boy or girl, but after I finished it, I thought it looked more like a baby boy quilt. So, I sure was happy to hear it's a boy!

Diaper Bag For Maggie

This is the diaper bag I made for Trisha and Maggie... I added some lady bugs to the side to help reinforce the shoulder strap...I was not originally happy with the way it turned out, but went to her house and fixed it....now it is perfect.
