Zipper Class

Hey sisters & sewers. We would like to have our zipper class on Saturday August 1, 2009. Kim will be in town then and will be able to join us.
Since you are the ones who have to travel, let me know what time to expect you.

You will need a "Sport" zipper, better to get it longer than your project calls for; your project to put the zipper into, if you are feeling confident, or I have practice pieces parts on hand.
You will need thread to match, and of course your machine. Don't forget to bring the zipper for your machine, as well as the regular straight/zigzag foot.

Lunch is on you. I can have stuff for drinks here, please let me know your preferences.

looking forward to seeing you then. Sunday August 2 is "the rain date"
Pieces,
Joann

Another Customer Request

A quilt shop hired me to make a quilt for them! She wanted a quilt to use as a sign for her booth when she goes to shows as a vendor. I delivered it to her today, and she was ecstatic with it.

A Customer Wedding Quilt Top

A young woman about to become a bride asked me to make this for her. She will have her wedding guests sign it and bring it back after the wedding for quilting. Her colors are lilac and clover. The lilac material for the applique was leftovers from her bridal party dresses.

The initials are CVA and you have to blow it up to see the embroidered date underneith

The curtain that it's pinned to for the picture is almost the same color. Sorry about that.

Tiffany's shower gifts...

I was inspired to make a bright and fun handbag for Tiffany when I was out with Mom one day and saw this really cute, bright keychain that says "I (heart) James". I couldn't find any flamingo fabric when I went to the store. I did however find a really funky cool fabric... and I thought it looked like something Tiffany would like. And I love how it paired with the denim. So I made her a little hand bag (same pattern Mom used for Kim's flag purse), a hankie with a pretty blue "G" for Garcia on it (something blue hankie) and I am going to stick a little cash in there too. The hand bag is the gift bag, by the way. Just really happy with the results and wanted to post it. Love you all =)

Knifty Knitter

Sew, Kim posted a project like less than 24 hours ago, and already got comments. It took forever for anyone to even notice my unicorn. :( Thanks Kim for commenting on my projects. I always look on here anxious to see comments, and really more anxious to see projects. I KNOW Sharon is working on something....COME ON SHARON...YOU ARE HOLDING OUT ON US!

OK, sew, I was concerned about having something to do on my down time at my new weekend case (while he naps)...and since I cannot tote my sewing machine with me, I have been taking small cutting and binding when I have it...but a couple days ago, I bought a knifty knitter loom at JoAnn's while I was looking for something that isn't on sale to use my coupons on....there is NOTHING that isn't on sale, by the way....

For about 4 bucks for the loom, and two scanes of $2.00 yarn (which I hardly dented)...about an hour to knit once I figured it out (took a while fiddling with the tightness of the yarn, and technique)....here is what I came up with. I hope Maggie Erin's head is a little bigger than this doll's.

The Frog King

I made this for Pete for Father's Day. I couldn't think of anything to get him that he didn't already have and I wanted some practice free motion quilting before working on the Monkey Business quilting. It is far from perfect but I learned allot about my machine and how to do this through this project.

I used to think that you "sandwiched"the quilt sandwich inside the binding to attach it. Now I learned (through an internet video) how to do it correctly.

I embellished the crown with some teeny tiny buttons and gold beads left over from cross stitch projects.

Projects I am currently working on

I am downloading new embroidery designs and making stuff for everyone but myself. I am busy with baby and wedding showers, graduations, retirements, and new homes... Sewww........I am chosing to make this project with the "other side" of some blue jeans i am recycling...just for something different. This is going to be part of Krisha's graduation gift, but I will not say what the finished project will be right now, just in case she does come on here and peek....I will post it again after the 26th.

The second picture is an invention I have been working on for about a month...mostly in my head ...after trying to make one real quick when I initially thought it up. I have made many improvements to the craftsmanship, as well as making it a duplicatible product. Since showing my original protocol, I have had many people tell me it is an excellent concept. It is a golf ball sleeve to attach to the side of a golf bag. The tight elastic hole on top lets you pop 6 balls into a rigid tube, that fall into a soft bottom pouch at the bottom, also closed with elastic, which allows you to squeeze one ball out at a time...the next ball then falls into the pouch. The sturdy cardboard tubes are from bolts of home decor fabric. I covered them in vinal before slipping the cloth over it....making it somewhat rainproof. Thanks for the tubes, Sharon! (She got me some from the quilt shop where she works and even cut them to size. I am going to make two or three of them to display and sell at out country club pro shop.

Sharon's quilt for Elizabeth

I was run off the computer last night by my husband before posting the beautiful quilt Sharon made for Elizabeth's baby...Here it is.

Trisha's gifts to Elizabeth

Trisha made Elizabeth's gifts also...she made a diaper bag using an enlarged version of a purse she made for herself. She got the pattern from Sharon. The fabric is the left overs from her kitchen cushions..how resourceful! It is absolutely awesomely COOL!

She also made this car seat cover, with a peep hole for those blustery Ohio winter days, so little Isaac doesn't get cold. The giraffes coordinate with her car seat. The car seat in the picture is not their's, it is one I bought for Jessica and David, but we put it on this one to model the cover for everyone.

Elizabeth's Shower...baby gifts by Candi

We had Elizabeth's shower today at our country club....We all made her stuff...I actually finished the last piece of this ensemble this afternoon, minutes before walking out the door to set up for the shower. This is all of the accessories...a diaper bag, quilt, recieving blanket, changing pad, and snuggly pouch. I feel like I have been working a decade on this. I don't want to see any more fabric with this theme again.
The hearts are appliqued. I used freezer paper and spray adhesive which I was introduced to by Kim. I will never pin appliques again! It made it sew easy to line up the four patches, so that the points are PERFECT. But I like the bow in the middle that would hide a center point imperfection anyways.
It is a Simplicity pattern which also includes a bib and boppy cover that I chose not to make, the receiving blanket is just serged around the edges, and the changing pad is backed with rubberized fabric and serged. They were not in the pattern.

My first quilting/applique project

I am just about done making the top on this simple quilt. It is far from perfect. I can't seem to sew in a straight line. But I am getting better. Anyway. I am going to give this to Krisha when she comes back from OKC.
