MY Bag Ladies Club project is complete!

Sew....I finished my project just behind Sharon, the retiree...and I am back to work this week following my surgery. Sew...It CAN be done! I did mine in purple Bali Pop batiks with a varigated purple thread for decorative stitching around the appliques...I quilted it using the same wave pattern on the back, and stitch in the ditch on the front with transparent thread so it didn't mess up my beautiful decorative stitching. I learned alot making this purse...I sewed the magnetic snap closure too close to the top of the bag, so had to ad lib the top stitching when I turned it right side out...I had also never made a purse from a pattern before. It was alot of fun. I am carrying it to dinner tonight...we are headed to Hyde Park Grill.

Bag Ladies Purse Club

Candi and I joined the Bag Ladies purse of the Month Club at A Piece in Time Quilt Shop in Akron. Here is the first project - called Wave on Wave. The tope picture is the front with all the wavy appliques, and the bottom picture is the back. It has three pockets on the back, one for glasses, one for a pen or scissors, and one for my cell phone.
I hope Candi posts a picture of hers as well. Oh, and by the way, the striped fabric and the dark green fabric are both leftovers from Joann's Christmas quilt. I love using leftovers up in these smaller projects. All the fabric in this purse is out of my "stash".

Hi all, Thanks for inviting me. I just read all the posts. Sounds like this will be a good way for us to keep in touch.
Sharon, your quilts are beautiful. One day maybe you can show mw how to take photos of my projects and then put them on here.
I have been making purses again. So far I have purple quilted one, a red prin quilted, and a solid black, the fabric is kinda like velvet. I also have one that is made of home decor fabric. I've been experimenting with different ways to finish the top edges. And Yeah, I finally figured out how to make the zippered pocket on the lining to be flat like the store bought ones.
Looking forward to hearing what everyone is doing.
Joann

Time

Sharon I love this idea and I wish that I had time to post all the projects that you do!. I am lucky to get anything done. I know that is about to change. I can't wait for that. So please don't think that I don't want to participate.

My latest quilt project

Here is an update. I have completed 14 of these blocks, and sewed them together. What do you think?

This is a picture of a block from the quilt I just started. It is paper pieced, and it is one of 70 blocks needed for this quilt. I'll update my progress as I go. The pattern is called Pineapple, and I have been wanting to do one of these for a while. When a new magazine had a nice paper piecing pattern for one, I jumped on it. The block measures 7.5 inches.

Wooly Sheep

Here is another of my latest projects. Hate to brag, but I just love this one. I call it "Wooly Sheep" The appliques are made of real wool, and the background piecing is what they call homespun. Above is the label that I embroidered onto muslin and put on the back of the wallhanging. Ladies, it is always important to document on the project somewhere who made it and when. That way, when you die and your project is looked at in the future, you will become a historic artist like Picasso.

This is a wallhanging sized quilt, it measures 13 wide by 15" high.

The First Entry

Hi Sisters, Sisters in law, Nieces, and sew on,

Since many of us love sewing and crafting, I created this blog as a space for us to share our latest crafty projects. Here is one of my latest projects for starters.

This wallhanging, entitled "God Bless the USA" measures 13" x 23". In the blue field under the stars, "God Bless the USA" is embriodered just above the stripes.
