Round Robin Revisited

My round robin is almost complete.  All I have left to do is hand sew the binding, and make the pocket on the back for the little book.

The Round Robin has begun

I got a block from Krisha already, and I'm doing my round around her block, then I will send it to Trish, along with my own round robin starting block.

Here is my question:  should I send a picture of Krisha's quilt to her after I finish my round, or will it be a complete surprise when we get them back?  Or should we post pictures on here or facebook as we go?  Everybody, chime in and let your opinions be known.

Honey Comb Quilt

I made this quilt over the weekend for the shop in Zanesville as a shop sample.  I'm going to beg Martha to let me keep it after the kits are all sold, because I absolutely love it.  If she says no, I'll have to buy one of the kits and make another one for myself.  There is a lot of Applique in this quilt.  So, I don't really want to make it again, but I will if I "have" to.

Its all about Ohio

I finally completed the quilt for my guest room. I called it "I love Ohio" There are 3 blocks that are Ohio themed. The Ohio Star, Buckeye Beauty and Crossing Ohio. It also has the OSU Block O in the center. You can't tell from this picture, but there are two additional O's that go around that O.

Sewing Day at Kim's

Kim and Joann and I went to the Original Sewing and Quilt Expo in Cleveland on Thursday.  We had a great time together.  Then, we went to Kim's on Friday and sewed the day away.

Here are the things I finished there.  The blue one is a mini quilt that I made as a sample for a class I plan to teach at Touch of Thread.  The buttons aren't attached yet, but Leslie made them out of polymer clay, and they look like they were made for this quilt.

The five blocks are a Block of the Month project I am doing with my quilt guild.  I had the first three finished already, but I completed two more at Kim's, while demonstrating proper piecing techniques to Joann.

Hooray!

I     *FINALLY*   finished my purse for the challenge!   I had a little problem with the lining, so I had put off finishing it for a while.  But, this time, I put it on my priority list, and when I got to it, I forced myself to work on it.  I'm glad it's done!   And, it looks good, so I can't wait till we have a sewing day so we can exchange purses.

My Bah-throom

This is the bathroom in my shop.  My friend Glenna recently personalized my curtains for me, using blocks that were left over when I made the quilt cover up for the shelves next to the shower.  The main reason I am posting this is because when I go to "work" on Tuesday, I want to show Glenna these pictures.

Mother/Daughter Sew Day

Today I hosted the first of hopefully many Mother/Daughter Sew Days at my house. It was sew much fun! Candi and Trisha both made a purse from start to finish. Krisha made key fobs that hold a chapstick and a little case for her cellphone. I finally finished my flip flop quilt wallhanging and worked on a winter hat for Candi. (not sewing but I was the host and couldn't get too involved in a big project) (I am not complaining) Here we are with the projects we did!

Leslies Birthday present

I racked my brain all week trying to figure out something to make for Les for her birthday and then yesterday it came to me and I made her this fabric basket.

I fussy cut the cats, mice, birds and sayings out of a fabric panel I had and created the fabric to make the basket. ( it was supposed to be made from to fat quarters). ANYWAY I hope she likes it!

Pete's anniversary present

I just have to find some mushy poem to give him with it.

Today is Mom's Birthday

This is one of my favorite of our family hand crafted ornaments.  Eric made it the first year we started the ornament exchange.  It is a copy of a painting Mom did of the Little Drummer Boy.  Eric put the copies into pretty little frames.  If I don't display anything else at Christmas, this ornament always comes out and gets displayed.

Bahama Santa

I decided to display my Santa Ornament - hand crafted by Leslie - with my Bahama Breezes quilt.  That way, on the really cold days I can dream of the warm breezes down south, and also my Santa will be warmer.

Santa's Sleigh Ride

I saw this Anita Goodesign creation last summer when Sharon, Krisha and I did a shop hop in West Virginia. I wanted to do it and found after I got home. It took weeks to do because each individual square averaged about 25,000 sitches and 25 to 30 color changes. But I enjoyed watching it come together.

My favorite quilt so far

I just finished this quilt, called "Snowglobe Babies"  I had sew much fun making it!  And, here is the label I put on the back.  This time, I machine stitched it to my backing before quilting the quilt!   Beats putting it on by hand!

Christmas Projects

These were SEW easy to do, and they are beautiful.....okay, the pictures aren't all that great because I was using my webcam, but I hope you get the idea.  The table runner is so long, I couldn't get it all in one picture.

Ninja Turtle Car Seat cover

My friend Jennifer is pregnant with a little boy and due any day now. She wanted to have a ninja turtle theme but it isnt exactly easy to find ninja turtle baby stuff. So I made her a Ninja Turtle Car Seat Cover! I used fleece for the applique so I wouldnt have to satin or blanket stitche the edges considering it is pretty complex. She loves it!

Purse Challenge

The purse challenge is underway, and I have got a good start on mine. I want to keep it! I hope everyone is having a good time. JoAnn and I are going to figure out a date for part two...the exchange. Do any of you have dates you can't go? It will be at JoAnn and Bob's.

Quilt Escape

Kim and I attended the Quilt Escape retreat weekend at Shawnee State Park this past weekend.  I had a GREAT time!  The quilt I made at the retreat is called "One Block Wonder", but I gave my own version a name.  I call it "Not Your Typical Grandma's Flower Garden".  This morning, I woke up at 3:45 and couldn't get back to sleep, so I got up and put the borders on.  Now it is ready to load up on the frame and let Madame Gazelle do her magic!

Purse Challenge

Trish and I had a purse challenge with some fat quarters I bought on clearance while at the Sokum Fest with Sharon. I just divied up the fabric, and we had to use each fabric at least once in the purse, but were also allowed to add fabric if we wanted. I guess Maggie picked Trisha's purse as the winner. She did a great job with this paper pieced maple leaf pattern, didnt she? I used some redwork to quilt some of mine, and some wonder under applique leafs.
