I Cannot Contain Myself

I am a blog hog...I know. I started this quilt for Jessica and David's baby a few days ago...I have four squares left to make. This is my adaption to Evelyn Sloppy's "HONEYBERRIES" quilt from the book "40 Fabulous Quick-Cut Quilts" . As you can see, I added a small personal touch in the center, I embroidered a floral/dragonfly design. I also chose to get away from traditional baby quilt motifs for this one, and use up some scraps of batik from a jelly roll I have had for a long time. I purchase NO NEW fabrics for this quilt. The cool thing about this book, it uses all 2 1/2 inch strips...Sew it works well to use up scraps. I just couldn't wait for it to be finished to post it....I find that happens alot lately...all of my recent posts are of unfinished projects...like my whole life. EVERYTHING is unfinished...dishes, laundy, the last dozen movies I watched...LOL

The project I am finishing today

This week I am purging my infinished projects from my life. I started this quilt months ago for a friend of ours who had their first grandchild. Blankets are forever though...so better late than never. It is big enough to last till he is two or so...so I actually had a long time left before I HAD to finish it. I just stitched in the ditch to quilt it...the high pile batting gave it a really cushy look.
I did rest yesterday, Kim, but my brain didn't, so first thing this morning I put this together. I had most of the pieces cut and planned....

My first 4D digitizing

I am making jackets for James and Tiff for Christmas using this digitized OSU logo. Not bad for a first attempt eh? I have some tweaking to do, but this is the first stitch out.

Now all I have to do is reassemble the shirt

Here is an updated photo of my pumpkin sweatshirt

Thread Velvet

I was shown this technique at my sewing machine class last week. I loved it sew much I had to try it out. It is called Thread velvet. You actually stitch it all out and then cut between the heavy satin sittches to make it look like velevet.

Now that I have done this simple one, I plan on doing a Santa Claus that I snagged (pirated) from my instructor.

Another work in progress

I am working an a million dollar sweatshirt here. It cost me $1000 for the embroidery machine, $80 for private lessons, about 15 hours of time so far, one ruined shirt, and tons of thread....but I wanted a hirt with all my grandkids names on it....i learned the mega hoop, and did the lettering with it, but decided due to the complexity of the pumpkin kids, I would do them on denim, and sew the patches on, sew I don't ruin another sweatshirt...while I am learning. I will have it done today, but I got impatient and wanted to see how the patch would look sewes on with an autumn varigated thread in a leave stitch pattern. Like it? I am embroidering Roxanna now.

I bought this pattern three years ago during a shop hop Sharon,

Trish, Mikey and myself went on around this time of year. It's not finished yet, but it was about time someone posted something...I am getting bored.
